iBooks Author is still around and available for free to download on Mac devices and the Media Commons computers, but Pages recently released a few templates for students to easily create interactive eBooks on their ipad and then export them as an epub file to read them as an ebook in Apple Books on their devices. iBooks author is still the premier platform for eBook creation with a variety of interactive widgets that you can embed. Currently, the Books template in Pages only allows them to add text, images, videos and hyperlinks. One beneficial feature of Books for Pages is that allows for students to collaborate on their eBook together, which is something that iBooks Author is lacking.
Set up a Discussion in Canvas or share a folder in Google drive in order for students to submit their final EPub file. This allows for students to view each others work and download them to their iPad Bookshelf.
Talk with me or ask Tom Johnson about how he used it for his World History 1 Ancient and Medieval Travel project as an alternative to a brochure.
