A new feature within Canvas is the integration of Google Drive. Below is some information regarding this new feature. Since this is such a new feature, there are some limitations on the iPad and a learning curve, so please read below at the bottom of how students with iPad will interact with Cloud Assignments.
Features:
1. Google Drive embedding and linking: easily embed documents from your Google Drive anywhere you use the Rich Content Editor
• Teachers can use a Google Doc to give an Assignment either by embedding it in the rich content editor or using the Google drive external tool under Submissions in Assignments. A copy of that document will automatically be duplicated in the students google-drive for them to edit and submit. Teachers will see the student's submission in the Gradebook.
3. Google Drive Collaborations: students can use Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides for a Canvas Collaboration. You would just go to the Collaborations tab select Google Apps from the drop down instead of Google docs>select Presentation>then add your students. The benefit to this is that it's all housed in a single space for students to easily remember where to go.
4. Modules: Teachers can link to a live Google Files in their Canvas Modules
